Bobby East Admits He Was Completely Broke Last Year

Zambian rapper and XYZ Entertainment CEO, Bobby East, has revealed that he went through a serious financial crisis in 2024 — a truth he says many people never knew.

Speaking on Kenny T’s 1on1 Podcast, the award-winning artist opened up about hitting rock bottom financially despite his seemingly successful image.

“Nobody knew that I was pretty bankrupt last year and in heavy debt,” Bobby East confessed.

According to him, his financial troubles began when several of his business ventures were affected by the country’s struggling economy. The rapper explained that his companies depended heavily on imported goods and paid rent in U.S. dollars — a combination that made operations difficult when the economy slowed down.

“We had more than three companies running, but everything went downhill. Our imports became too expensive, and the dollar rent was killing us. I even started using show money just to keep the businesses alive,” he revealed.

Bobby East said the situation quickly got worse, and he feared not being able to provide for his family — something he described as his biggest fear.

“Things went south really fast. I remember thinking that if I couldn’t provide for my family, I’d have failed completely. I had to make a choice — fight through it or give up. I can talk about it now because I’ve managed to recover,” he said.

Now back on his feet, Bobby East says the experience taught him valuable lessons about resilience, humility, and financial discipline. Fans have since applauded his honesty, praising him for opening up about the challenges many people silently go through.
